After the earthquake Bertrand spent much of 2010 living in a tent camp. Even after he moved in with his aunt his family couldn't afford to send him to school. Donors like you have already provided the funding we need to keep Bertrand in school throughout 2013. With your help, he'll keep learning when he starts 6th Grade in 2014!
School in Haiti is not free, and if a family cannot pay, their children simply do not attend. Lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
Bertrand has lived his whole life in poverty. Your donation will give Bertrand the education he needs to ensure he can support himself and find a route of to security. We'll use your donation to pay Bertrands school fees, provide books, school supplies, and extra support if he needs it. The education he'll receive will be life changing.
Access to education for children from families who do not have the means to send their children to school means that those children will have the skills they need to find stable jobs and escape the poverty of their families.
