25 Children back to School!

Dear Friends and partners,

Compliments of the new season! You deserve a good year in 2017.

You did it again, we asked for help last year to send back another group of 25 children to school and they are back in school. Thank you so much for your generous support. The children were overwhelmed by the reality of being back in the formal school again after going through hopeless years at home.

The 25 children were reintegrated in the primary school after going through the accelerated learning program through our community out of school study group. We offer lessons to children who either dropped out of school or never had a chance  to start formal school from the ages of 9-15. When ready the children are assessed and supported to go back to formal school to obtain  at least a certificate of basic education. This is not an easy task without support as we require teaching and learning materials, stipends for volunteers, furniture, uniforms, books, school bags, and food.

The program started in 2010 and we are able to host 100 children at a time. I am sharing this with you just to show you that you are a great part of the program. Every dollar counts.  For example $2 is enough to buy a pack of 10 exercise books and a primary school child will require 2 packs per term, that is $4. The children went back in smiles in new uniforms. All the 25 were reintegrated in one school to help each other deal with stigma and discrimination as well as supporting each other.

*Chamaine had this to say, " I never imagined I would see this day in my life. I thought now I will be in the village collecting firewood and getting married before I even turn 18 years.I am really happy"

Thank you once again. Continue to give through our main project "Second Chance Education for Orphans in Mbare"

With gratitude
