Rashan is seven and he's a survivor of two Nepal earthquakes. Rashan lives with his family in Bhaktapur. Rashan's school was badly damaged in the first earthquake and Rashan's desk and bookshelf were destroyed by the falling rubble. This means Rashan has to sit on the floor during class and has nowhere safe and dry to store his books. But with your help, we'll provide Rashan with a desk and bookshelf.
in 2015 Nepal was devastated by two earthquakes in less than three weeks. Over 36,000 classrooms were destroyed or heavily damaged and more than 1 million children, including Rashan, are now learning in terrible conditions. This is causing further harm to Rashan by denying him a quality education. This threatens his future by locking him into a cycle of poverty.
Your donations will be used to provide school furniture for Rahsan and eleven of his classmates at the Shree Bim Adarsha school in Bhaktapur. Specifically this project will provide four school desk and bench sets, each large enough for three kids, and one large shelving unit. This school furniture will allow Rashan and his classmates to receive an effective education and learn the skills they need to build a brighter future.
Your donations will give Rashan and his classmates back their education and help them escape poverty when they're older. Bhaktapur is not far from Kathmandu but its more rural location means that kids like Rashan are poorer, and more neglected, than those in the capital. By allowing us to provide school furniture for them, you'll ensure these kids not only recover from the earthquakes, but also build stronger futures in the long-term.
