It is estimated that one in four people in sub-Saharan Africa are undernourished. Our work in extremely poor communities mean we see the effects of this every day, especially with our young children. Even though our Feeding Program is one of the largest budget items we struggle with, we feel the long term benefits to the children well worth the struggle.
This year we are cooking around 90 meals per day (that's about 17,000 meals planned for this year). We employ two cooks who prepare the meals, one parent who comes in to wash up and we have all our food supplied by one of the local business men from our community.
The children at Ugali, Beef and Kales on Monday, Rice and Beans on Tuesday, Rice, potatoes and cabbage on Wednesday, Rice, Chicken and green beans on Thursday and Pilau with Kachumbari on Friday.
Unfortunately, this project has not met its target so we will need to keep raising funds to ensure we can continue feeding our children. You can still donate through the main project page on GlobalGiving or via our website.
