Scholarship Program Report for 2014-2015

Child listening to a story
Child listening to a story

Meet Praful, Preetham and Nagashree, 3 young students who are in Kindergarten thanks to your generous contributions to the scholarship fund last December.

Prapul Gowda is a bright, cheerful student at our Kabbanahalli Centre in Mandaya District. His father is no more and his mother works as a cleaner and dish washer at a nearby hotel to support her family. Preetham is another bright student at the Thalagavadi village centre. His father is out of work and mother is a farm labourer. Nagashree’s mother is a cleaner and also the only earning member in her family. At Parent sessions held earlier in September, parents expressed much delight in their childrens learning.

These are only 3 of the scholarship children who are attending preschools and hope to continue another two years in Kindergarten before they join the local government school.

This June your funds have helped to provide education to 276 children from 128 communities who have a keen desire to learn but are unable to avail the opportunity due to the extreme poverty that their families are steeped in, making it difficult for them to realise their dreams of educating their children and ending the continuous poverty cycle. It is the generous support of individuals like yourselves that helps us stay focused on our vision of ensuring that the children of the under-served communities have an equal opportunity to learn and succeed.

In June 2015, our work will expand to 300 villages and we hope to have close to 700 children on scholarships. This will include those currently on scholarships and new enrolments from the Centres we open next year.

We hope you will continue to support our scholarship fund to make this possible. Our link to donate for next year’s batch of scholarships is up at: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/send-700-children-to-school-in-2015/.

Do share with friends and family too who maybe interested in supporting a child's education in reschool.

In appreciation and with much gratitude,

Lily
