This project will provide medical examinations, treatment, and medicines to 317 sick displaced children who survived violent attacks in Benue and Jos. Many are living in camps and host communities without access to healthcare. The project will treat infections, injuries, malnutrition, and other illnesses, helping reduce preventable deaths and giving affected children a chance to recover and stay alive.
Many children displaced by violent attacks in Benue and Jos are living in camps, host communities, or remote bush settlements with no medical facilities nearby. Some suffer from untreated injuries, infections, malaria, malnutrition, diarrhoea, and other illnesses. Distance, poverty, and lack of transport prevent families from seeking care, causing treatable conditions to worsen and leading to preventable deaths.
Through this project we will deploy mobile health teams to reach sick displaced children in remote bush settlements, IDP camps, and other places where families are hiding. Medical workers will examine the children, conduct basic tests, treat illnesses and injuries, provide medicines, and refer severe cases to hospitals. This will bring care directly to children who cannot reach a medical facility.
Regular mobile medical visits will help detect and treat illnesses before they become life-threatening, reducing preventable deaths and long-term disability among displaced children. Healthier children will be better able to survive and return, recover from displacement, and take part in daily life. The mobile care system can also reach more displaced families in remote areas during future emergencies.
