Challenge

Hamida graduated from an AAE school in 2009 and continued to American University of Afghanistan, studying Business Administration and Finance. Her father, a baker, earns just $200 a month and cannot afford his family's daily expenses, much less Hamida's school fees. In the past, a benefactor has paid Hamida's tuition, but has stepped back due to lack of funds. Hamida is just 36 credits away from graduating and cannot proceed without outside support to continue her education.

Solution

As a poor refugee in Pakistan, Hamida began school at age 6 and continued at an AAE school once she returned to Afghanistan. Few refugees make it to university level studies. Hamida is intelligent, driven and dedicated to make a difference in her home country through education. By funding her education, you are funding the future of Afghanistan. Hamida is a wonderful inspiration for other Afghan women. With your support, she becomes an example of what hope and determination can achieve.

Long-Term Impact

After graduation, Hamida plans to establish a business to help Afghan women who lack education due to poverty. She ultimately intends to support herself and her family, including her brothers and sisters who are in high school. By helping other Afghan woman, Hamida will be supporting Afghanistan's peaceful future. Studies by the UN and others have shown that the education of a woman has far reaching impact in the communities in which they live improving health and overall economic development.
