The outbreak of COVID-19 has spiraled out of control with Peru having one of the highest fatality rates in Latin America. With only one hospital serving 16 rural communities, Peru's health system is in desperate need of support to bring in medical supplies especially oxygen. These communities need us more than ever so let's unite so we can ensure everyone has access to emergency care, resources and support to survive.
In Peru we have been working with over 16 rural communities and with only one hospital serving them the hospital is in a critical situation due to COVID-19. The health system has collapsed and are on their knees and in desperate need of support to bring in medical supplies and more critically oxygen. The communities need our help to get these critically important supplies to help members of the community fully recover and greater risk to leave the population without necessary medical supplies.
Centro Bartolome de las Casas, with other key stakeholders like the Catholic Church have unified to join efforts in order to gather enough funds to provide oxygen and medical supplies to the hospital and we are seeking more assistance through our network to help raise the funds needed to save lives. With your support we aim to financially secure the resources that are in urgent need. This will help the fight against Coronavirus and save lives in the Chinchero district.
Long-term impact: Hopefully this support will equip the hospital with enough medical supplies to receive patients not only during the Coronavirus pandemic but in the long-run. Oxygen supplies can be re-used and will be a long-term help to support the local health system.
