Well the global giving community did it again!

Thanks so much for your response to this appeal. Of course we do not wait until the funds reach us from Global Giving as the need for this appeal is immediate and I want to you know every donation you gave was immediately spent buying warm clothing for the most vulnerable in our community, babies and children all living below the poverty line and whose families (if they have them) cannot afford warm clothing in the bitterly cold winter months.

I want to make clear that we do not have advertised giveaways of blankets inviting some politician to indiscriminately distribute blankets as some kind of photo op. Our experienced staff both in the villages and at our center for homeless children know very well the  children and families in need and they make sure they get the warm clothing they so desperately need with the minimum of fuss and as soon as possible.

The winter here brings a  damp and invasive cold and imagine if you did not have a sweater or socks or even any sandals on your feet how horrible it would feel? ...well obvouisly you can thats why you responded so generously.

We were able to provide thanks to your kindness with life saving warm clothing and thick woolen blankets. Here the houses have no heating at all .

The Senior Nurse on our Health Project told me how they had visited a shack in a slum dwelling where there were burning plastic to try and keep warm , and after very hardly telling them how harmful the fumes were she then gave all the children a warm blanket .

The mother broke into tears and told her,- "it's a struggle to eat some days , but we could never afford such thick woolen blankets, my children were shivering and crying from the cold - Thank you so much!!!!"

May I respectfuly remind you that Febuary 12th is a bonus day with Global giving matching donations . Bonus Day is on it's way! Matching will begin on Wednesday, February 12 at 9:00 AM EST and will end on Wednesday, February 12 at 11:59 PM EST, or when funds run out. There is $75,000 available in matching and we’re offering a $1,000 bonus award for the most individual donors and a $1,000 bonus award for the most money raised (these awards are calculated at the end of Bonus Day).

With Best Regards and much appreciation and have a great 2014 ,

Deepak
