Giving a leg to this beautiful little girl is giving her the chance to walk, now she uses her hands to move around and crawl in the floor, but since she is growing everyday she will not be able to do so and eventually she will need a wheelchair to move. Instead if she has a prosthesis she will be strong enough to walk by herself without crutches or walking sticks, she will go to school alone, will help her mother in the house chores and be an independent girl empowered of her life and needs.
With a prosthesis, Salome will be able to walk as a normal person, therefore she will not develop back problems due to walking with her hands and carrying all her body weight with them. A prosthesis will give to this sweet baby the chance to live a fair life, she will learn to walk and run, she will swim in the ocean with her friends and most important she will be able to go to school, study and grow to be an independent woman. She won t be ashamed of the way she looks and will love herself
By giving a prosthesis to Salome she will learn to walk by herself, she will develop strength on her legs and will no longer have to walk by using her hands. This means that she will feel like a normal person, and will be able to have a regular and happy childhood. She will become independent and confident about herself and will stand in two foots. Giving a leg to this little child means she will feel normal, happy and pretty, she will not judge herself and will live a life with dignity.
Makavir Kmina provides prostheses to 250 amputees per year. This project will provide in a one-year period, prostheses to 20 children and youth between 1 and 25 years old who have suffered lower limb amputation allowing them to become independent in their daily life activities. This is important because they will have the opportunity to return to school, college or work, thus improving their living conditions and those of the people around them.
