Getting Ruby out of Portugal has indeed been a challenge. We were able to get Ruby the medication she needed with the help of a neighbor. Then came the challenge of getting her out of her house to meet a consular officer from the American Embassy to get her new passport issued. That didn't happen until the end of March when her husband's family came for a visit and he was acting nice and normal by letting her go out shopping.
The following week, he let her go out again to go shopping. Ruby never went back. We got her a taxi to the Embassy, she picked up her new passport and got on the plane.
Ruby is so thankful. Here is a note from Ruby:
"I feel so blessed. I am home with my children and grandchildren and I could not be happier. Please thank that angel that helped me."
From Ruby, and AODVC, thank you so much!
