In March of this year, we at Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT) launched a “mini-campaign” through GlobalGiving to refurbish our new warehouse with over twice the space of our previous warehouse. Thanks to you, our wonderful donors, we reached our campaign goal of $2,500 in less than one week!
These generous donations have allowed CHAT to get our new warehouse up and running in a short period of time. Among the items we purchased are metal shelving, tables, lumber, and cleaning supplies. Now that we have metal shelving and lumber to use for storage, our furniture and household goods area is more organized and it’s easier to see what we have. These items have been donated to use so we can furnish our CHAT houses, and respond to requests from numerous other non-profit organizations that help move folks into housing in the Chico area.
And, because this warehouse is so much larger than our previous one, we decided to move our food distribution program there as well and it’s working out wonderfully. Because of your donations, we were able to get some electrical wiring done to accommodate the refrigerators and freezers for our food program which means we can take more donations in. We also gained important storage space and shelving for food items. Now we have plenty of tables and space to accommodate our food sorting for weekly delivery to our CHAT residents.
