Summary

Poor Muslim families in rural Butebo, Uganda will have enough staple food to prepare suhoor and iftar throughout Ramadan instead of breaking their fast with little or nothing. A complete Ramadan Food Pack will reduce hunger, ease financial pressure on large households, and help parents protect their children's health during fasting. With food secured, families can focus on worship and community-experiencing Ramadan with dignity, mercy, and stability.

Challenge

Ramadan food insecurity for poor Muslim families in rural Butebo, Uganda. Many households lack the income and access to basic staples as prices rise, and the rural location makes it harder to find affordable food. As a result, families struggle to provide suhoor and iftar, parents skip meals, and children and the elderly face hunger and weakness during the holy month.

Solution

By funding and distributing complete Ramadan Food Packs to vulnerable Muslim families in rural Butebo. Each pack provides essential staples-rice, cow peas, flour, cooking oil, sugar, and salt-so families can consistently prepare suhoor and iftar throughout the month. A A Relief will work with local partners to identify the neediest households, deliver the packs directly in the community, and share distribution documentation and updates for transparency.

Long-Term Impact

Stronger family stability and healthier communities beyond Ramadan. When households are protected from extreme hunger during the month, children and elderly are less likely to suffer weakness and nutrition-related illness, and parents avoid harmful coping strategies like skipping meals or taking on debt. Consistent support also strengthens trust and cooperation within the local Muslim community, creating a reliable pathway for future seasonal assistance and broader poverty-relief programs in But
