This project will finish our construction of a therapy office and playground for adolescent mothers and their children who are victims of abuse and trauma (such as rape and sexual assault, gender based violence, drug abuse, and more).
Our center benefits 44 young mothers who were living on the streets due to being kicked out of their homes, abandoned, or having unsafe home lives. Many of these girls have psychological and mental health issues due to their past conditions (such as trauma, abuse, rape, etc.). Additionally, these girls have never before had access to mental health and counseling services.
Providing these girls with psychological help them to heal and provide stability for themselves and their child. Therapy will provide these girls with treatment for PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, and more. The playground will also provide an area for children and girls to play and exercise outdoors which is beneficial for mental health.
This project will provide much needed mental health support, consultation, and education to those in need. Not only will this provide mothers with stability and health, but also will positively affect their children and help them be able to reintegrate into their communities and lessen their time in recovery.
