Kamawornie is a remote village in Northern Sierra Leone, Bombali District, Sella Limba Chiefdom. Many of the children in this chiefdom do not go to school - but rather work on the family farm. The most common means of livelihood is farming. The villagers have no access to electricity and other social amenities, Most of the houses are grass and mud houses, with a few corrugated sheet homes. Because of the poverty level, many kids drop out of school and end up working on the farms.
We are helping to change this by providing educational support for the ones that are interested in going to school. This project will provide 10 scholarships that will cover all school-related expenses including books, school supplies, uniforms and school fees. The provision of scholarships will enable them to further their education. This provides an opportunity to transform the lives of the kids.
The project is an effective long-term investment that will help provide quality educational opportunities for more youths and young adults so that they can rise above poverty and become better decision makers. The principal economic advantage of this education project is that it will produce people who are capable of making a greater contribution to the national economy. These future leaders' incremental earnings represent the added social output generated by investment in their education.
