CHCS aims to improve health care conditions of one of the oldest community of KALASH valley who have maintained their culture and identity for hundreds of years.Owing to this value, Kalasha culture has been listed by UNESCO for consideration as World Heritage Site.
The Kalash people, also called Kafir (Non-believer), Black Robe and Siah Posh, live in the three sub-valleys of Kalash; Bumboret, Rumbor and Birir, in the modern-day District Chitral, Pakistan. The Kalasha are ancient tribe of Pakistan and they have their own way of life, their own religion, language, rituals and their own identity. there are no adequate medical facilities in valley. seeing this emergent need CHCS has established a small clinic to provide medical facilities on regular basis.
The establishment of a Medical clinic in Bumburet KALASH will provide medical facilities to the KALASH community on regular basis for ONE year. This will solve their medical needs in case of emergencies and day to day medical problems at their doorsteps. The medical clinic is being run by a trained medical worker from the KALASH community. Along with medical check up, free medicines will be provided and the complicated cases will be referred to the District Headquarter Hospital in Chitral.
this small micro heatlh project will not only solve the immediate health care needs of KALASH community but also cause awareness among them to improve their health. The Customs Health Care Society also plans to start health care awareness programs along with provision of medical facilities.
