Summary

This project will raise money to fulfill a Christmas Wish List from our participants' children. Inflation has made it tough for our single parents to just put food on the table so this Holiday season it is going to be a real struggle for them to buy gifts for their family. Some of our participants, like Dawn and Dorian, have 8 and 9 kids respectively, making this Christmas more challenging than ever. Your donation would provide gifts for 30 children, ensuring they will have a Merry Christmas.

Challenge

The 30 children on HOPE's Christmas Wish List have seen their single parents struggle all year -- trying to balance work, college classes, and being a full-time parent. Some lost their jobs during COVID and now many who were just overcoming that obstacle had to face the rising cost of everything. This project will supply Christmas Wish List gifts to all of their children, helping to ease this challenge and making sure their kids will have a Merry Christmas.

Solution

This project will alleviate the additional stress our single parents face as they move into final exams at college, continue working, and juggle the additional demands parents face during the Holidays. Ensuring they have gifts to give to their children this Christmas will ultimately help them feel empowered and eliminate a stressful barrier as they work toward their college degrees.

Long-Term Impact

This project ensures Atlanta-area single parents can attend college classes and graduate with a degree, pulling themselves and their children out of poverty. According to our 2021 graduate survey, 88% of our graduates are working in their career fields, while 12% are working at higher income levels in a different career field. Our graduates pull themselves out of poverty, as 48% are the first in their families to attend college, and 32% of our graduates are now earning over $50,000 a year.
