What's scarier than COVID-19? Starving from hunger! Coronavirus's devastating impact includes closed businesses and lost jobs. The dismaying end result is starvation/hunger. Particularly at risk are young children. We are helping to is alleviate this by providing food for families - for example, non-perishables such as bags of rice, cooking oil, etc.. Also, by providing funds directly to families, they are able to purchase the healthy and perishable food items needed for their daily diet.
Life-threatening levels of food insecurity in the developing world are expected to nearly double this year to 265 million, according to the United Nations World Food Program. Prices have climbed in many countries, as fear of the virus disrupts transportation links, and as currencies fall in value, increasing the costs of imported items. The pandemic has reinforced basic economic inequalities, none more defining than access to food.
This project will provide food assistance to families in need enabling them to stay alive and healthy. Your support will help meet a vital need for survival. With this support, families will be able to use their scarce funds to meet other needs. - such as sending kids to school medical, clothing, etc. No one should starve to death in this day and age when there are ample global resources.
This support will help families stay healthy and strong. Lives will be saved from sickness and death from the coronavirus. Families will have something to eat - so they will not starve or pass away from hunger. By helping to meet the basic physiological, survival needs (Maslow's hierarchy of needs), the lives of families will be enhanced - as they will be able to focus on other higher needs.
