One positive outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic is that it is helping our organization to discover new and innovative ways to deliver services to our clients. One way that the HUG Restoration team is responding is by offering online counseling to both existing and new clients. The beauty of virtual counseling is that we can offer mental health services not only to local clients, but also to young people all over Thailand, and even outside of the country!
For example, in one case, our client was tricked by a job offer in a foreign country. She left Thailand with the expectation of working for six months and being able to return to her family. To her horror, the situation developed into forced prostitution. After two escape attempts, she was finally freed from her plight, and her traffickers are being prosecuted. In the meantime, she remains abroad while her case is being processed. Thanks to our generous supporters, HUG is able to offer her (and others like her) remote counseling services to help her begin to heal from her trauma.
