At the end of the year, when everyone is embracing the festive atmosphere of giving and secret surprises, let's stop for while and think of those who do not have this privilege. Let's warm up the hearts of those who were struggling with serious challenges during the previous period and help them feel a little of the joy of the coming season. Bring them hope and heal their sorrow!
In the last three years, our country became one of the most important transit spots for the refugees who are fleeing the war-inflicted areas. In hope to find safety and better conditions of life, the entire families travel tens of thousands of kilometers, while dealing with many problems on that road. Women and children are especially vulnerable - in addition to everything else, they are faced with the different types of violence, abuse and exploitation through forced prostitution, forced labor.
Through activities managed by ASTRA SOS Hotline and Direct Victims Assistance Program, as well as the European Missing Children Number 116 000, our organization wants to draw the attention of the public to the risks and problems which affect the migrant population. At the same time, by communicating with them directly, we wish to point out the possible preventive measures which can protect them from becoming the victims and to inform them where to seek help if that happens.
Children need to go to school, they need the friendly environment, clothing, and footwear, accessories, books, toys, etc. Essential for them is to feel safe and loved; they need to feel accepted, make new friendships and color their childhood with creative and interesting activities so that their fear could disappear and the scars on their soul heal over time. Let's make them see and feel that they are in our thoughts, that we offer them a hand of support and friendship.
