Dear Friends,
We are excited to report that a full time English Teacher has joined our staff at The Mariposa Center for Girls! Beto Almonte Olivence hails from the neighboring town of Sabaneta, right here in the Dominican Republic. Beto is fully bilingual and previously worked in guest services at a local hotel. He now works with all of the Mariposa girls teaching English classes five days a week.
Beto's wife, Yajaira also works at Mariposa as our office manager, and one day their now two year old daughter, Zoe will be in the program. Beto says, "I grew up poor but I know that I had more opportunities than some of the girls in my community. I love my job at Mariposa because I can use what I was lucky enough to learn to help other girls. This is very important to me now that I have a little daughter. I want her to grow up with Mariposa". Having dedicated male staff members and mentors teaching at our center is a key component of our success. Girls' life experiences are shaped by the men around them and it's important to involve positive male influences in their lives, especially outside of their families.
Thank you for helping us make this wonderful addition to our team here at The Mariposa Center for Girls. Your contribution to our fund a full time English teacher is helping our girls learn valuable skills that will help them find gainful employment when they are ready to enter the workforce. Because of you, these girls will be able to take care of themselves and their future families.
With gratitude,
The girls, families, volunteers and staff at The Mariposa DR Foundation
