Every year we help hundreds of American domestic violence victims in foreign countries. Many of them have pets that also need rescuing. For victims without money, this may mean having to leave their pets behind when fleeing abuse. With this project we can assure 10 small pets can be rescued in 2017.
American domestic violence victims fleeing home to the USA from foreign countries often return home with just what they can put in a backpack. While we can use our Federal funding stream to rescue human victims, we cannot use those funds to rescue pets. Without this project, victims may have no choice but to leave their pets behind in the violent home.
It costs an average of $300 to rescue a small pet for the veterinary certificates, vaccinations and airline approved pet carrier that can accompany a victim in the passenger cabin.
We will provide services to 150 American victims with pets in approximately 50 countries while they are fleeing violence. Our goal is to have all of them reach safety with their pets and live their lives without violence in their homes.
