Cassandra recently escaped Ecuador with her son Jack to escape her violent husband. We were able to provide danger to safety relocation to Cassandra and Jack back home to the USA and get them into shelter for 30 days. We need to help them get into an apartment and Cassandra needs $1,000 to pay for the first month's rent and deposit.
When American mothers like Cassandra flee abuse with their children back home to the USA they escape with what they can carry. Cassandra's husband was also abusing Jack and she had no choice but to flee for their safety, even though it meant she and Jack are homeless in the USA.
With this project we will be able to get Cassandra and Jack into their own apartment before the holidays by paying the first month rent and deposit. Cassandra is ready to get a job, move into an apartment, leave all the abuse and violence behind and live without fear with Jack as they begin their lives over. We have arranged furniture for Cassandra with a local community warehouse and a church is providing household items.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
