This microproject was live on GlobalGiving for 90 days. Unfortunately we did not reach our target for the required funds for erecting a canopy for the young children at Nafasi Welfare Centre. However we have managed to raise £1500 towards our target of £2500 through other fundraising activities and from generous donations.
We will continue to fundraise for the canopy and trust that in time we will be able to build one as it is important that the babies and young children are able to have the opportunity to play outside without being exposed for too long to the rays of the blazing sun. The canopy will also provide shelter from the rain during the rainy seasons.
Nafasi means chance, the centre provides temporary care for abandoned babies and young children up to five years of age. We aim to provide holistic care for each child. Uganda has more than two million orphaned and homeless children. Nafasi Welfare Centre can care for up to 20 children at any one time. Rescuing them from the streets where they are in danger of illness, disease, malnution and human trafficking. Providing these vulnerable children with a safe haven and a new chance in life.
Our Nafasi Community Support Programme helps young teens mums rebuild their lives through training, guidance and counselling so that they will be empowered to take better care of their child.
Thanks again for your support and interest in our project.
If you have any questions about the projects please do not hesitate to contact us. We would love to hear from you.
