When COVID-19 made its way to Puerto Rico, restrictions and safety precautions required us to cease our normal operations. Our biggest concern was keeping children from going hungry. For many children, a school meal is often the only nourishment they will eat for the day. And as for families who are able to provide some form of nutrition for their children, their meager earnings became non-existent when they were no longer able to keep their jobs because of closed businesses.
We quickly worked to re-organize our efforts and ensure we were doing everything possible to keep children and their families starvation. We partnered with local organization's to provide food boxes for families in the communities. Our goal is that no child will go to bed on an empty stomach.
Thanks to the financials gifts of many through our project on GlobalGiving and local organizations we have been able to support more than 6,000 people.
