Central London Samritans would like to thank those of you who donated to our emergency appeal. These funds went towards re-configuring the branch into a Covid safe environment for our volunteers to answer the phones in. We are an organisation that is open 24/7 and has been for 67 years non stop. We were able to keep this record despite extreme challenges in getting to the branch in Central London and losing a third of our volunteers because of self-isolation. We were only able to have 4 phone stations as oppose to the 16 we would normally have. We have now enabled our duty room to have 8 phone booths placed around the perimiter of the room, 2 metres apart at least. We have improved the air quality and have re-configured the entrance and exit to the branch so we are able to have a one way system. This work was done by our volunteers which kept costs to a minimum.
Our challenges, like everyone's in this pandemic, are on going, but we are still there 24/7 answering calls for help from those in distress thanks to your kind support.
