I am Bishnu. I am associated with the Janaki Women Awareness Society in educating and empowering girls in Nepal. Thousands of girls across Nepal cannot complete their education & are married young. To promote girls' education I am leading Send a Girl to High School with a Bicycle Gift campaign as Project Leader. A girl's engagement in school means fewer chances of her being married young. My dream for a university degree in education is to build up to send more girls to school every year.
Expected to help with household chores, girls are often kept at home while their brothers attend school. Due to this they are irregular, late, and absent from school & are finally turned into drop-outs. There are other so many reasons girls quit school and are married young. Nepal has one of the highest child marriage rates in the region. To address this more research and efforts for girls' education & empowerment need to be in place now & in the future. My dream is to send more girls to school.
I am involved in girls' education & empowerment of women for more than 10 years in Nepal. This project supports my dream of a University Degree in Education & there-upon building up support for more girls to continue their high school education & end child, early & forced marriage in Nepal. An educated & empowered girl is mature & confident enough to decide about her career, marriage & her role in the family & society. And she can also influence the family's decision for the best for her.
Voices of girls in the typical male-dominated Nepali societies are rarely heard & valued. I run a campaign for girls' education and empowerment in Nepal. My Degree in Education is to work more in the education sector and live a long-term impact on girls' education and empowerment. Once a girl is educated & empowered rest she will do it all alone
