Modeled after our school in Cam Ranh, Vietnam, we will open a new music school for underprivileged kids living in Hue, Vietnam. The school will provide violins and lessons to 20 students who will learn and play together as a group. This project is the passion of three dedicated U.S. college students who spent time volunteering in Vietnam and who want to continue their support for Vietnamese youth.
Students living in poverty cannot afford musical instruments or instruction. Although many of these youth do go to school, music programs are not available in or after school.
This project will give young Vietnamese students the opportunity and tools they need to learn to play a stringed instrument and play, perform and create music together. We believe that kids who are able to express themselves creatively will perform better in school and find more enjoyment out of life. By providing a free music class in Hue to children to whose families can't afford it, we are enabling children to follow their dreams and excel in their passions.
By building a strong bond around music, we hope that our students will learn skills that will help strengthen them within their own communities. Learning how to play an instrument boosts self-esteem, teaches kids how to work in a group, and strategically solve problems; all of which can be used in future life experiences.
