Challenge

Over 3.5 million adolescent girls in Uganda miss 4-5 school days every month due to menstrual related issues. One of them being lack of information about menstruation prior to their starting . In some cultures and communities girls and women are not allowed to talk about menstruation publicly which has led to many teenage pregnancies' and death due to abortion. This project will affect over 1000 girls directly and an estimate of 500 indirectly . Let us be a voice to voiceless young girls

Solution

This project will provide accurate information about menstruation . conduct trainings in 5 schools about pad making. The information provided will break taboos and myths people have around menstruation. After the information we shall train them in skills of making pads. Which we believe will tackle the problem of lack of information about menstruation.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate and train 1000 girls directly and impact 500 indirectly which will help them get information about menstrual management, right materials to use during menstrual and also learning about signs and symptoms of menstruation. At the end of each sessions we shall answer all questions students might be having about menstruation and female reproductive health
