This Giving Tuesday, we're asking you to consider giving a gift to our current pack of rescue dogs. While much of what WAG typically fundraises for is to provide for basic needs - food, shelter and vet care, we also want to enrich the quality of life for our dogs and ensure they can mentally thrive while in our care. Money from this fundraiser will be used specifically to purchase high quality toys, replace leashes, and buy treats.
We know mental health and stimulation are an essential part of overall wellness for all living things. This fundraiser will enable us to purchase high quality toys and enrichment items to helps keep our dogs thriving physically and mentally! Our supply of toys is lacking (as is our treat supply). Many of our collars and leashes, used for daily walks, are starting to fall apart and need to be replaced. These are non essential items and often end up being lower priorities in budget making.
Most dogs under WAG's care have had rough beginnings and faced hunger, neglect or abuse. This project is specifically focused on giving these pups some spoiling and investing in items to provide extra emotional enrichment. Money from this fundraiser will not be used for vet care or dog food - its been earmarked for maximizing dog joy and mental health!
Happy dogs tend to live longer and are less likely have behaviour problems when their physical, intellectual, and emotional needs are met. We exist to promote welfare, positive human-dog interactions and ultimately 'help make happy tails for dogs in Rwanda' and investing in enrichment and mental health is an essential part of living out this mandate.
