We were lucky! The water filter system is funded
By Debra aka Brique Zeiner | Chairwoman
We were very lucky to receive a large donation to fund the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center Water Filter System.
It is being worked on at the moment and will be filtering out the school's well water within the next couple of weeks.
We want to thank everyone who donated so generously to make it possible for us to provide children and their families with clean - pure water. Now the children will be able to go to school and not be thirsty - and our school kitchen will be able to use pure drinking water to cook with.
Water is life - and every living creature should have access to pure drinking water - especially humans!
Thank you so much - Asante sana!

Water is hygiene
After the glorious over-the-moon joy of having the borehole finished and water actually came flowing out of the well and into the pipes and water tanks - we were soon faced with the sad fact that because of the drought in Kenya, the water was not pure enough to drink! So we must now have a mandatory water filter system built. It is costly - but we are working hard to raise the funds. We need all of the help we can get! All event donations in the coming weeks will go towards building the water filter system. The Live and Learn in Kenya children's parents and our staff were finally able to fill their water buckets. Life was getting better all the time!
The drought began in November 2022 and lasted until this past April. The consequences were substantial. Crops were drying up - animals were dying of dehydration - and worst yet, people were dying of thirst. So of course food prices climbed to an all-time high, making access to food so difficult for the poverty-stricken in Kenya. The children at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center still received their warm meals 6 days a week - and we bought truckloads of clean water for them. That was not easy to pay for! Luckily we have received generous donations - and we depend on donations to keep things going. It's raining now, but who knows for how long - and if it will be enough to even things out. What is certain is that we must have that - expensive - water filtering system built as soon as possible.
Water is the source of life - and we are protecting children's lives.
Asante Sana - thank you so much for caring!
