After the glorious over-the-moon joy of having the borehole finished and water actually came flowing out of the well and into the pipes and water tanks - we were soon faced with the sad fact that because of the drought in Kenya, the water was not pure enough to drink! So we must now have a mandatory water filter system built. It is costly - be we are working hard to raise the funds. Water is the source of life - and we are protecting children's lives. We need all of the help we can get!
After building a well, we had abundant water at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru, Kenya. But then came the drought! The lack of rainwater played havoc with the well water's purity, so we are now forced to have a rather costly water filter system built.
After we have raised the funds for the water filter system it will be built immediately and the purity of the school's well water will be secured.
In nearly 22 years of work in Nakuru, we have provided hundreds of children with education, vocational training, nutritious food, foster care for (predominantly AIDS) orphans, and medical/dental care. The children who have finished their education through LLK now have jobs or attend universities. Having our own school, we are able to provide high-quality education so that even the poorest of the poor have an equal chance to be all that they can be in life. This will change generations of lives.
