52 impoverished kids dwelling in a rural tribal village located in TN, South India, who lack quality education will engage in our free enhanced literacy program. We will setup infrastructure, including computer stations with proper seating and conduct classes to build English proficiency, computer and social interaction skills. Our goal is to empower the youth in this community to be successful to pursue higher education and careers and to be inclusive in the mainstream modern digital world.
For youth of the Irular tribal community, progressive education is a distant dream due to their socio -economic status. It is estimated that 37% of households in rural tribal communities in India are below the poverty line while also being deprived of basic human and education rights for decades. Unfortunately, lack of technology resources and quality educational programs often hinders the growth potential of these disadvantaged yet motivated youth.
For most modern age education and future employment, basic computer skills, spoken English language proficiency and social skills are becoming necessary. In partnership with Gramiya Valarchi Sangam (local NGO), we strive to achieve comprehensive community development specifically focused on Irular tribe. Our enhanced literacy program provides infrastructure, essentials and customized classes to build English proficiency, Confidence building and Critical Thinking and Computer/Technology skills.
Our long-term impact would be to provide sustainable solutions powerful enough to be positively life-altering for the marginalized youth and the community. By the irrevocable knowledge and skills imparted through our program, we empower students to be literate, self-confident, employable, and independent citizens. Most importantly we hope to inspire young generation to pursue the path that allows them to break barriers of poverty and deprivation and be contributing members of mainstream society.
