The adult literacy program organized by REO to reduce the high rate of illiteracy among the Mbororo and Muslim women ,which result to low esteem and unwillingness to integrate and contribute to developmental issues, have registered some remarkable successes since your donations were made
During the past months, women have been taught mostly in English language which they consider as bottle necks unlike arithmetic which they are familiar as most of them are engaged in petty trading. However, it is hoped that before this year runs by, teaching will take a blend of the two subjects in other to fulfill the scheme of work.
In other to integrate this women into the fast growing technological world of ICT(information, communication and technology) a software program TTRS (touch read type and spell) was introduced which women began by, being familiar with the key board, typing their names and engaging themselves with other modules of the program.
Achievements:
So far, they are really putting efforts as most of them are able to read and write (especially the level one’s who really had difficulty in reading when the project started)
The women have mastered some of the key buttons which was very strange for them at the beginning of the program and can write their own names in the computer.
Constrains:
There is the problem of inconsistency of some women.
Not all the women sat for the Exams.
Lack of computer (lap top) which makes it difficult for the TTRS program to run consistently.
