As a valued supporter of our mission, you know that our commitment to the children and families of Limpopo is unwavering. However, nature has recently tested that commitment in ways we haven’t seen in quite some time.
Over the past weekend alone, we recorded a staggering 150mm of rain in just 30 hours. While the statistics are startling, the daily reality for our team is even more intense.
For the past three months, our team has been working in grueling conditions that are difficult to put into words. To perform even the simplest tasks—delivering a food parcel, checking on a vulnerable household, or coordinating a meeting—our staff are literally wading through deep mud. The physical toll of navigating these "elements" cannot be overstated. It has turned every logistical step into a marathon. Yet, despite school closures and the temporary postponement of our Colour Run and end-of-month camp, our mission remains in motion.
Because of your ongoing commitment, our "safety net" remains intact even when the ground beneath us is shifting. We are currently pivoted toward urgent flood relief, providing:
Food parcels for isolated families.
Warm blankets, clothes and school uniforms for children affected by the runoff.
This weekend, I am traveling again to collect a trailer of donations to ensure our supplies don't run dry. We are already looking at rescheduling our postponed events to ensure the children don’t miss out on the joy and development these programs provide.
The mud may slow our feet, but it does not stop our mission. Thank you for standing with us through this storm.
With deep gratitude
Louise
