Dear Friends and partners of Keep The Dream196,
Firstly I would like to thank you for your support in sponsoring this project. Through you we have received $1,800 out of our total $3,000. This is our first microproject we have attempted and although we didnt achieve our goal thanks to you we will be able to commence this project once the final funding has been sourced in the next few months. We will be running the project in the March-April school holidays and complete it during the June-July holidays when the children are available. Originally we were going to target those children who failed matric however as you can see below those children have all gone on to technical school, so we will now choose children who are interested and are in Year 10&11.
Secondly, I want to tell you about our recent success's during the exam season of 2013. We had 47 students sit matric
Those who have failed have all either sat supplementary exams, registered for matric in 2014 or entered a technical college. The 9 who have achieved their certificates have all entered technical college and those received Bachelors have started university studying in a variety of different fields including: Law, Marketing and Medicine.
Another success, we continue to have a teenage pregnancy rate of 0.07%o per annum with the provincial average being 13%.
Finally through the whole program we have been working since 2003 we are now seeing the 1st Generation of beneficiaries coming back as adult leaders giving to the programme and working to assist other children in the area to succeed. In the picture that is attached you will see Kheto on the right, this young man is studying externally a Bachelors of Science - computer and volunteering with KTD196. The young lady behind is Nkululeko, who was one of the original 13 children we started with in 2003, she has started working full time with Keep The Dream196 as a fully qualified Social Worker. The children on the left are the 2nd generation coming through. It is so exciting to see the whole programme becoming more sustainable.
As you can see we are moving forward and having wonderful results and you are part of our success, thank you again.
