Sometimes, when we are scraping the scraps of leftover food off our plates to put them in the dishwasher, the thought comes to mind that there are children in Africa who are hungry and that even these scraps could make a difference between hunger and health - and then we go on to throw the scraps away because you can't pack them up and send them to the hungry kids in Africa.
Well dozens and dozens of people have found a way to feed hundreds children living in the slums of Nakuru, Kenya by donating through GlobalGiving.
Live and Learn in Kenya Int'l is feeding children on a daily basis - 6 days a week. The 240 children attending school at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center receive their meals directly at the Center - the other program children, who are attending other schools. receive their lunches at their schools - and on Saturdays and during the school breaks they all have the possibility to eat together at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center.
Not only the children have huge smiles on their faces when their tummies are full. Parents who lived in constant fear that they will not be able to feed their children that day can breathe a sigh of relief when their smiling children come home and are happy and smiling - and are not hungry!
Your kind and wonderful donations are making a difference - every single day - 6 days a week. So breathe a sigh of relief when you throw away those scraps - So SMILE!
Asante sana - Thank you so very much.
