Little Yarumy was only 11 months old when an accident changed her life forever. She fell from her baby walker into a plastic bathtub full of hot water. This project will provide to little Yarumi all the medical materials, special garments and therapies to recover full left arm-hand flexibility, improve the scars of her face and body noticeably; and this way Yarumy will be able living and enjoying the life all children deserve to live.
In our center in Peru, we receive on average one new patient that has suffered severe burns every day. 70% of these accidents happen due to hot liquids and they mostly affect children younger than 6 years old. In the case of Yarumy she came to ANIQUEM to receive her treatments. For a full rehabilitation she still needs compressive garments, thermoplastic splinting and silicone masks which will improve flexibility of her left arm-hand and make her scars in the face almost invisible.
With your donation we can finance the necessary rehabilitation including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy, psychological treatment and especially get the special garments, splints and masks she needs. With the integral rehabilitation she will be able to recover the complete flexibility of her left arm-hand, and we can assure her integration into the society; give little Yarumy a new perspective and this way substantially improve her quality of life while is growing.
Through one year of integral rehabilitation these 7 burned children will not only get the necessary medical treatment but will also learn how to live with their external and internal scars. Our ultimate goal is to improve their life quality, so that the kids are able to live a normal life again and convert them and their families into prevention ambassadors in their community. Together with the distribution of prevention messages they can help us to decrease the number of burn accidents in Peru.
