This project will provide a full year of education for fourteen year old Wisly. Wisly's dad died in the 2010 earthquake, leaving his mom to look after ten children. She couldn't care for them all, so she abandoned Wisly and two of his brothers at the HTDC orphanage. Despite this, Wisly is one of the orphanage's most out-going kids - he LOVES posing for photos. With your help, we'll be able to provide him with the education he needs to build a secure future.
As an orphan, Wisly is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There are very few free schools available in Port-au-Prince, so the orphanage must pay for the kids in its care to attend school. It can't afford to do this without your support. Lack of education locks kids like Wisly into a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only helps Wisly, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
Wisly has lived his whole life in poverty, and he needs a quality education to build a prosperous future. Your donations will give him that education and set him on the road to a brighter tomorrow. Donations to this project will cover Wisly's school costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
Access to education will give Wisly the skills he needs to find a stable job and escape poverty when he's older.
