This project will provide a year of education for Novelie. Novelie is six and after her mom died she was left in the care of a young aunt. Novelie's aunt couldn't afford to care for her and so she brought her to the HTDC orphanage. Novelie was very sad for a long time but now she's begun to smile again. With your help, we'll be able to keep providing her with the education she needs to build a secure future.
As an orphan, Novelie is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There are very few free schools available in Port-au-Prince, so the orphanage must pay for the kids in its care to attend school. It can't afford to do this without your support. Lack of education locks kids like Novelie into a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only helps Novelie, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
Novelie has lived her whole life in poverty. She needs a quality education to find a prosperous future. Your donations will give her that education, and set her on the road to a brighter tomorrow. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Novelie's school costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
Access to education will give Novelie the skills she needs to find a stable job and escape poverty when she's older.
