Help JuJu See Again

A microproject by Eyes of Africa
Help JuJu See Again

Summary

JuJu is a young boy in Africa with a Corneal Dermoid dangerously encroaching on his visual axis. The sight in this eye is severely damaged because of the growth, and is at 6/40. He potentially needs a Corneal Transplant, but is certain to need a pair of prescription glasses and medicated eye drops. Not only has it affected his eyesight, but he is extremely self conscious and gets bullied at school, nicknamed 'Oogie' - meaning 'small eye.' The success of this project will change JuJu's world.

Challenge

The success of this project will stop or remove the dermoid before it covers JuJu's visual axis fully and turns his left eye fully blind which we will not be able to undo. It will also improve JuJu's wellbeing and self confidence, preventing the ongoing bullying he experiences.

Solution

The funds from this project will cover the corneal transplant that JuJu needs before it's too late to undo permanent blindness in his left eye. It will also cover his prescription glasses and medicated drops.

Long-Term Impact

The potential long-term impact that this operation will have on JuJu's life is unexplainable. It will change his entire world, better his learning abilities, give him back his lost confidence and lastly give him hope in humanity. Which I think we all need.
