This project will provide a year of English Education for Omene. Omene recently joined the English in Mind Institute as an intermediate student. Although Omene is a new student, her dedication and active involvement in class have been noticed by her teachers and classmates alike. Omene has a job as a secretary but she wants to improve her English skills and start a career in Haiti's growing hotel and tourism industry. But Omene can't afford to pay for her own school. That's why she needs donors
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Omene, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Omene can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help her develop the skills she needs to find better, more secure employment.
Your donations will give Omene the means to support herself and her family into the future. This will let her escape poverty for good.
