Job Skills for Julson

A microproject by International Disaster Volunteers (IDV)

This project will provide a year of English Education for Julson. Julson likes to joke around but he works hard in class and is now comfortable at Elementary level English. Julson will use his language skills to find dignified, living wage employment - but he can't afford to pay for his own school. That's why he needs donors like you!

More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Julson, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.

By ensuring that Julson can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help him develop the skills he needs to find gainful employment.

Long-Term Impact

Your donations will give Julson the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
