This project will provide a year of English Education for Gilbert. Gilbert is a proud father of six and is learning English to help advance himself in his work at the National Gas Company. His language skills help keep him in dignified, living wage employment - but he can't afford to pay for his own school. That's why he needs donors like you!
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Gilbert, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Gilbert can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help him develop the skills he needs to stay in gainful employment and to keep providing for his six children.
Your donations will give Gilbert the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
