This project will provide a year of English Education for Esena. Esena joined the English in Mind (EIM) Institute in 2015, as part of the school's first ever women's only beginner class. She immediately stood out as a star student, and is always the first to arrive and help others. Esena will use her language skills to find dignified, living wage employment - but she can't afford to pay for her own school. That's why she needs donors like you!
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port-au-Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Esena, cannot afford to attend a fee paying school, and without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
Your donations will help support EIM's running costs, so all that Esena has to bring is her text-book and hunger for knowledge. By ensuring that Esena can continue studying English at the EIM Institute, you'll help her develop the skills she needs to find dignified, secure employment.
Your donations will give Esena the means to support herself and her family into the future. This will let her escape poverty for good.
