More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Rose, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Rose can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help her develop the skills she needs to find gainful employment. That employment will allow Rose to feed her kids healthy food, educate them, and help them escape the poverty which has held her back!
Your donations will give Rose the means to find work and break the cycle of poverty not only for herself, but for her children as well. She'll be able to keep them in school, ensuring that they follow in her footsteps toward gainful employment and a prosperous future.
