This project will provide Interactive Learning Materials for Yspaniola's approximately 150 students in the community of Batey Libertad, where many lack access to quality education and basic services. Materials will be provided for our tuition-free Preschool and Learning Center as well as our programs in the Batey Libertad public school. $10 buys a pop-up book, $15 buys a Spanish literacy games, and $25 buys an educational game.
Currently, our Preschool and Learning Center have limited access to classroom materials which improve logic, thinking, and sharing skills. Most students also lack enriching, educational activities at home. With minimal educational materials, responsibility is placed solely on teachers to maintain the attention of all students in the classroom. This makes it difficult for teachers to offer varied classroom activities or accommodate individualized attention.
This project will allow us to purchase interactive learning materials for our classrooms and use our borrowing system to allow students to bring games and materials home as well. Increased learning materials helps our teachers accommodate varied students' learning levels and styles and offer more individualized time. Interactive Materials can increase student participation and engagement and help our students develop a diverse set of literacy, critical thinking, sharing, and logic skills.
This project will increase the quality of education for 150 current students in our Preschool and Learning Center as well as provide resources for the next generation of students in Batey Libertad. Yspaniola prides itself on instilling in students a love for learning. We believe increased access to Interactive Learning Materials will improve students' experience in the classroom and inspire a passion for learning throughout their educational journey.
