Our partner organisation, ORT SA CAPE, runs training sessions for teachers in under-resourced communities in Cape Town, to ensure that the children receive a better quality of education. The workshops focus on areas such as Perceptual Skills, Lego Playbox and Educational Coding and Robotics. Training the teachers means that the children will develop more skills at school and this will give them more opportunities for their future. Your donations can be partially matched on Giving Tuesday!
Research shows that in South Africa, 6.5 million children under 6 are deprived of critical early learning opportunities. For every 100 children entering school, 40 will complete Matric exams (in their final year of high school); 28 will pass; 4 will study further and 1 will graduate with a degree in science or technology. Teachers need further training, to deliver a good quality education. This, in turn, will allow the children to have greater opportunities in life.
The workshops enable teachers to teach more effectively and will help them to teach the children how to develop many new skills. This has a multiplier effect, as teachers work with many children during their careers. The workshops will impact children at many under-resourced schools around Cape Town. 22 pounds will fund a place for a teacher at a workshop. Any contribution you make during the Giving Tuesday campaign will go extra far, as GlobalGiving will be partially matching donations!
The workshops ensure that teachers in under-resourced communities are better equipped to deliver a quality education. One Principal said, "Our children are the future of our country. Through ORT SA CAPE, I now have a better understanding of Early Childhood Development." 550 pounds will sponsor places at workshops for 25 teachers, giving children in 25 classrooms a better education! Your support will help these children develop the skills they need for their education, and for life in general.
