Community roads are hard to travels for some reasons. Some roads are broken and others are not fixed. Especially the community in Chreave commune  where our school is located has poor road access. So students and community people have difficulties to travel to school and work. Therefore, Salariin Kampuchea Organization inituates and coordinates in fundraising for fixing the roads. So please see what we have done with our students and the community to fix the roads from last month.

Calloboration and coordination with the community and local authority

Our representative, Ravy talked and communicated with the commune cheif and neighboring people who have their resident along the roads to inform and ask them to contribute some donation together with our school. As the results, the commune chief appriciated our creative ideas and they approved our project. Secondly, the community, some of them donated some cash to fix the roads.

Fixing road activities

After we bought the red stone soils and earth for road fixing, the trucks dropped down the red earth and then a bulldozer machine move the red stone and earth to broken and hole parts of the rioads. Even thouh, the roads are fixed by tractors and bulldozer machine, we still need some help and support from our students at our school to dig and carry the red stone soills/earth to fix the road in front of our school and the road nearby. The students worked very hard to fix the road but they are very happy to do so.

In addition, we did it for two days as a row with our students and the community poeple in order to finish fixing road. Everyone feel very happy with the hard work.

Impact

As the result, the roads are fixed around 1000 metter lenght. Our students are easy to travel to our school Salariin Kampuchea Learning Center and home during the rainy season. The community people who live nearby have easy access to travel home. There are more children access to our learning center. Everyone feels very happy with the new road fixing and they express their sincerce thanks to our school and donors.

We would like to thanks everyone who supported us through GlobalGiving with your hard-earning money. Width your help we hope to continue and build upon the success of our non-formal education program.

We wish every success, happiness and enjoy it with your family and friends!

 Warmest regards,

The Salariin Kampuchea Team
