In India, 95% of street dogs are anemic, 70% have low platelets, and 90% have ticks fleas, causing skin issues and life-threatening tick fever. Diseased, injured, and operated dogs have a loss of blood or are anemic, and they are in immediate need of blood transfusion. For an immediate blood transfusion without wasting time, the availability of a suitable matching donor is highly impossible in 99% of the cases. Due to this lack of availability, many animals do not see the light of the day.
Unfortunately, there are only 2 animal blood banks all over India and none in Hyderabad, the 6th largest city in India. It would take immense time, expense, and effort to find donors and transfer the blood to the needy. Fortunately, SAFI is taking up the project to open a blood bank and transfer the needed blood type to other pet hospitals. There are 12 blood types for dogs. It's a no-brainer that animal hospitals need to store most blood types right away. The solution is BLOOD BANK!
In our shelter, along with the waiting room, clinic, and recovery room, we plan to build a space dedicated to storing donated animal blood. This would be the very first BLOOD BANK in the city. To maintain, we shall allot funds towards buying a blood freezer, a generator, a blood extractor, and a blood separation machine. A qualified veterinary technician is appointed to label, identify, and match the blood to the dog/cat. Our in-house vet and other senior partners will be in-charge of the bank.
Having a blood bank at this facility shall help save the animals on time at a much lower cost. This blood bank will serve the animals that come to our shelter for help and other Vet centers and shelters. This project will be successful with all of your lending hands. Let's all come together for a beautiful cause and save animals in need.
